What I notice when that happen, when it was on the lock screen, everything was booting up as if I unlocked it. first time it happen, I restarted it 5 times for it work properly. second day I restarted it twice, third time restarted it without internet. third worked fine, haven't had no problem.
Yes you fixed mine too. First time I tried to shutdown it said this thing was stopping shutdown, something about Windows Update. I disconnected the my modem and rebooted 5 times. I ran SFC /SCANNOW and it found no integrity violations.

Everything seems fine now, everything works now. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Having just took what seems agaes to install the latest "1703" updates upon restart and checking for updates it seems to be having another go at the "1709" update :) So far 60% of preparing to install.... did this a month ago, TWICE... got to 60% downloaded and failed... now 35% downloaded see what happens now... :) they do say third time lucky!

Macrium back due to run first

    Thats a bonus... 95% downloaded... :)

Usually a fail is from it already is installed. It shows in my updates as a fail because when I did a clean install back on Sunday, it actually installed Version 1709 Build 16299.

How can I put this..... This 1709 update must be the worst f****** update Microsoft have released!!!

After failing twice month ago, failing once last night then taking ages to get to restart stage... I scheduled for tomorrow.. tonight turned on and it is preparing to install again... turned it off after 90 mins and still only 66 % !!!

In the update list it shows restart required.. restated tonight and all that did was break th HP accelerometer... and did offer to show me what's new... we're still on 1703 in winver ...

See if it does it tomorrow...

Every other major version has done in an hour or so... This seems a nightmare...

I have restarted twice and it checks for updates and says up to date.....

I have all the folders in my C Drive

Any ideas why I still have 1703 in winver.... and in about page?

Now , I did schedule a reboot after the first one for 2.30 today could that be the reason? it need to automatically do it?

If not can I run cleanup and remove the windows old and installation files? then reset windows update?

    DRIVING ME MAD! :)

When you go to restart, does it go into Configuring Updates, 30% then shut down/restart then go back to Configuring Updates?

No, that is what I was expecting, this Notebook came with 1511 so It has done a couple of major updates now....

I can't see anywhere that says the scheduled restart is set for 2.30 today, should I?

I was thinking maybe the 2nd one down is the one "waiting" as postponed by me and the other from today..
