A little concerned. I set mine to update last night, downloaded in the background. Don't know how long it took, wasn't paying attention. Shut down, left it to update. Booted it up today, just had a black screen with a loading wheel going for an hour. Is this normal...?
I don't understand, if you shut it down how did you expect it to continue updating? A black screen that long is not normal. Try rebooting a few times and see if you can get the advanced startup repair screen to kick in.

-Checked for updates, saw there was one and downloaded it in the background.
-When I shut down I had the option to "Update and Shut Down" which I took.
-When I rebooted the next day it said something about updating then went to a black screen with a loading wheel, now for about 90 minutes.

Thanks for the reply though, I'll try rebooting and hope this doesn't require an OS reinstall.

Just powered mine up to see the feature update available, finished the preparing to install then got to 65% downloaded then said there was an error and it will try later.. now says my PC is up to date....

Tried a reboot, ran disk cleanup and removed the Windows temp intsall files/folder, and did a check for updates and it still says up to date.....

Any ideas? seems strange it got to 65% downloaded then failed... twice by the looks of things...

    Hi Stuart.

Lets see what version build you are on.

Windows key + R, type winver, enter. Post Version and OS build number please.

LOLcaster how did reboot go. I agree an hour is not normal but this update is big and some people have reported it taken hours, granted not on a black screen with rolling dots.

So it has not updated, just checked again and it states I am up to date...

It came up earlier that there was a problem and it will try again later...

My desktop ran for about 90 minutes doing the download last night. I left it alone and went to bed. got up this morning to see it at the logon screen. Logged in, and I'm still on the Creators Update. I don't see any failed installs. I checked for new updates and it seemed to start the download again. I just shut down the computer as I had to leave for work.

I have an AMD FX8370 BE and the setup ran 5 1/2 hours. After reboot, the installation took 2 1/2 hours.

Stuart, I think at this point I would run the Windows Update reset.

Then before proceeding I would ensure my data was backed up.

Then run setup from a USB key created with the media creation tool.

I seem to be having the same issue but a different problem with mine, mine will update and finish and then re-download again like its stuck in an update loop.

Are you using USB key created with Window Media Creation Tool?

Might be worth resetting Windows Update.
