Woa, it finally finished around 11:20pm, but what is crazy is the SSD was 77GB free space before the update and after the update it has dropped to 62GB of free space. I guess I need to find and delete the old install now?
I just turned my laptop on this morn at 10.30am UK time. And it popped up that there was an update, it is the FALL UPDATE 1709 so i downloaded it which took literally only 5 minutes at most. And now i have just clicked the install now, so we will see how long it will take, been sat 3 minutes and its on 5% preparing install. So looking ok so far. Pretty quick for a Samsung NP700Z5C-AO2UK. Intel i5-3210M 8GB Ram. 1TB harddrive. 16Gb M.2 cache SSD.
Time will depend on a number of factors - including how much data you have on your hard disk. My installs took from between 2 hours to 3 hours from start to finish.
Yeh, mine was going good, but now its crawled to a slow pace, been on an hour preparing to install and its at 64%
Well the while upgrade took about eight hours. I hope it was worth it and I must thank the respondents to this thread for their comments.
I think mine only took a few hours. Lost a lot of space but I know I can get that back. The OS seems to be running much better though and I already had a update and it was faster than I have ever seen. I wonder if 1709 improves upon the updates.
I might even install this back on my main machine if I can ever break that Linux install which seems unlikely so far.
A little concerned. I set mine to update last night, downloaded in the background. Don't know how long it took, wasn't paying attention. Shut down, left it to update. Booted it up today, just had a black screen with a loading wheel going for an hour. Is this normal...?
