I really do appreciate all the help and advice you have given me... I may try the repair of Windows 10 as that will keep all my data intact to see if that does any good, as I say seems to be running OK now and still states 1703 in "winver" so I presume that is what I am on lol.... When I deleted the windows.old folder it was only about 20mb in size so no upgrade has been done...

Really odd this has happened after the other two went smooth...

The other reason I may do the repair is my concern is that if it has messed anything up I will not get any 1703 updates through at all...

Will keep you informed and once again thank you

I know most people do not want to do a clean install but I still think, one members opinion, that it is necessary every so often. No doubt it is more work especially with dozens of apps and I'm not discounting that work, I just think it makes a better go forward base.

I use dozens of portable apps, which need not be re-installed.

mine took at around 2/3 hours i think
don't remember very well because i updated it manually maybe 2 weeks ago when the update was released for those who wanted to try it
and i updated from version 15xx and i'm on an i3 which is to be expected to take that much time

and for the compatibility.... mine is deemed uncompatible by the manufacturer(Fujitsu) but it works
so yeah i really don't know

Currently fixing a friends Acer Aspire ES1-533. Downloaded most of the CUs except the feature update for 1709 has been stuck on 0% for about 5 hours. Rebooted and still same issue. Any tips please?

    Hi AntJac.

Try the in place repair / upgrade procedure. It is supposed to be non-destructive but I always advise members to make a backup of their data.
