Happened to me. Left computer on as was going somewhere for a few hours and had it done it it would of taken some time. When I got back I clicked the x to take the screen off and stop it. Then I checked the windows update area and it said about the download being ready (wasn't there earlier when starting the "get ready" part. Clicked the download button. The download was quick and am just about to install it. You might not, and hopefully not have to wait a few hours for the update to show but might need to wait 20 minutes of the upgrade app being on then check if not sooner.

Follow these steps to validate your installation files.

    1) Access this file location C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete everything there. (Note delete only content found there and not the Download folder itself)

    2) Open CMD (command prompt) with run as administrator (admin privileges) and run this command: wuauclt.exe /updatenow

And make sure you have enough space on the C:\ drive for the upgrade process (It can use upward of 30GB).

I'm having the same issue as you. Did anyone try the suggestion from Windows Sniper, and did it resolve the problem?

Yes I tried the fix and it did work. I am now upgraded to Windows 10 after many days of frustration. The only thing that was a problem to me (probably not a problem to others) was needing to go back to the upgrade and start the process new.
