what will be removed during the Fall Creators Update

    Good Day All
I have been reading (here in other threads) that in the process of updating/grading that windows essentials will be removed and in so doing windows movie maker as well, is this true? and what else will be removed.

I have finally got some sort of handle on movie maker and do not want to loose it.

all help and or info is greatly appreciated

I haven't seen that said before, but it's good question - I use Movie Maker a lot and would be very upset to loose it. Installed apps are normally only removed during an upgrade if they are known to be incompatible with the new version of Windows. Just being old and unsupported isn't a reason to remove it. I'll test this and report back shortly.

.... and what else will be removed.
As I said, known incompatible apps will be removed. In the past this has included things like third-party AVs that need upgrading to work in the new release. As for the built in features and apps of Windows itself, this is the official list...

Features removed or Deprecated in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

Yes, screen saver is in MS's 'removed' list. The photos thing is apparently not a 'Movie Maker' re-boot, it's just a way to make movies.

I seem to remember Movie Maker gave errors when clean-installed in CU, but if you ignored the errors it worked fine.
I wouldn't be surprised it FCU was similar.

Movie Maker doesn't need the compatibility stuff, it runs fine without it. The offline installer however needs it otherwise it doesn't work properly. Useful information if you're ever need to do a clean install of the FCU.

If you haven't got the offline installer, here's one way you can still get it.

Now that windows movie maker is no longer there what do people use

I love watching my Aurora screensaver I stole from Vista, I`m delaying that FCU for a year.

But can we still install our own screensaver ?
