    Media Creation Tool question

I plan on doing a clean install. My question is do I still need to upgrade to windows 10 first or can I just enter the windows 7 key during the clean install of windows 10?

    Thank you for this information

    Hey mate,

You will need to do the free upgrade first so that the activation will be locked on your PC. Afterwards, you'll be able to do a clean install on the PC anytime you like, and have it automatically activated.

See step 6 here for more details: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1...n-install.html

So our best bet is to do the upgrade first, and then try a clean install for subsequent installs...if I am understanding correctly.

Correct to be able to activate the free upgrade when doing a clean install afterwards in the future. :)

Yes, but only after you do your free upgrade. Afterwards, you should be able to clean install 32-bit or 64-bit. :)

Yes, but Windows 10 will not be activated going that route until you purchase Windows 10, and activate the installation with the included key.

Your best bet would be to reserve your free copy, then upgrade to Windows 10 when notified. :)
