I have found a video of the setup process I'm seeing...

YouTube | Creators Update : Cortana Assisted Windows 10 Installation
That's been there since I believe the Creators Update. It may have changed since then but I've seen it before. On my laptop I did it like in the video, with voice commands. My laptop has a built in mic and speakers. If either device doesn't work, driver issue etc. You won't get the assisted setup. I don't get it on either of my desktop PC's. No microphone.

The machines I tested the install on were laptops and had working microphones. That must be the key to which type of Setup you get. I got no option but to have the assisted setup.

(now I wonder if I can disable the microphone in the BIOS - something to try later perhaps...)

Watch that first video you linked to. Cortana tells you how to turn her off early on in it. You just click the sound Icon to shut her up.

EDIT: Or turn the volume down or mute the sound, and just click you selections manually without saying a word. I believe its all the same menu's regardless.

I know how to shut her up, I was wondering how to avoid her completely and run a traditional setup.

Ah, OK. I do believe its all the same menu's etc? Just no running dialog in the background. Same menu's other than the ones being looked at in this thread that is. I'm tempted to do a clean install on my laptop to see if I get all the same menu's, if that's where your going with this. I saw all the same menu's when I clean installed the Creators Update on my PC's, assisted or otherwise. The only ones missing where the "Hello I'm Cortana etc". All the options menus were the same as near as I can remember. The same as what's in Brinks tutorial. Not saying that hasn't changed, just that that's what I observed.

The critical difference between the Cortana assisted install and Brink's tutorial seems to be that she doesn't offer the choice to join a domain or (specifically in answer to the OP's initial question) there's no option to use a Microsoft Account.

I do believe that was an option when I did it way back when the CU was released. Memories not what it should be, but if had been different I think I would remember. I'm going to go dig my laptop out and do a clean install in a bit. Curiosity is getting the best of me. Time to have supper first though.

Ok, just did a clean install 10 Pro x64, same x86 x64 multi thumb drive created with the en-us MCT download. Cortana assisted setup and I'm now looking at the How would you like to setup, personal or organization menu, so its not the assisted setup that's doing it. I picked personal and I'm now at the "Sign in with Microsoft" screen with the email, phone or Skype option. No problem setting up with my Microsoft ID.

Interesting twist just happened. while typing in the above post I left my laptop on the Sign in with Microsoft screen. When I went back to sign in, it was blank? Like it went into power save screen blank or something? I couldn't get it to come out no matter what key I pressed? Even momentarily pressing the power button did nothing, just a blank screen. I did a forced power down and booted up again. Now I'm at the "Who's going to use this PC" screen with no option to enter my Microsoft ID? WTF?

And guess what, it gets better. Did another shut down, without setting up an account. Booted up, got a just a moment, and it went back to the "How would you like to setup", personal or organization menu. I selected personal and entered my Microsoft ID before it could blank out on me again.
