Yes, today. I'm out having my eyes tested ATM. When I get back home I'll shoot a few screens
And likewise, Sin. It's good to see you! :) Hope all is well with you and yours.

Please excuse the horrible quality and randomness of images. No important images pertaining to the question are missing. But I did skip irrelevant common steps when taking photos, just common stuff.
Sorry I can't comment here for I haven't clean installed an OS in quite awhile (using the Media Creation tool), however I did sign in with my MS account when I did. My 10 Creator Update has been on my machine for quite some time. A very stable OS I may add.

Your pics are fine. I see you're upgrading all or most of your PCs I assume? I'm curious as to why you weren't offered to sign in with your MS account as well. I'm wondering if it's a regional/country mandate by law? Who knows with these crazy micro-managing laws today?! Not a suggestion, but I would think at this point you could create an MS account and delete the local one.

I'm sure someone will look in on this. I'll be peeking in to see how this goes.

    antspants,

I did some clean reinstallations in July 2016 and the user account stage was the same as you have found - Who's going to use this PC.
I don't believe that an internet connection is relevant because I have never run an installation whilst connected & the prompts certainly used to involve a default of creating an MSAccount in earlier Windows 10 versions.

I hope you do not regard what you have discovered as a problem.
    • The [password-protected] local Admin-level account you create during installation can remain on the computer as a spare in case the day-to-day user account created later on ever suffers from user profile corruption & refuses to let you log in.
    • Write the password down somewhere handy that is secure from prying eyes & secure from loss. Mine is in a thing on my keyring.
    • Just in case you have heard of Password reset disks for local user accounts, do please note that they achieve no more than writing the password down achieves.

I have had occasion to test a clean install. Cortana seems to have got 'up-front and personal' with the Setup of Creators Update. Your screenshots cut off Cortana's most important suggestion (for me, that is :)) - mute the speaker to STOP ME TALKING!!!

I always set up a local account first, so didn't notice any change. I wonder if it's a multi-purpose question? If you gave an email address when asked 'what name do you want to use?' would it set up an MS account?

    Sin,

Interesting. I'm not sure why you didn't get the option for what account to setup either.

In the screen shots posted, I see Upgrade selected. Did you in fact select Custom and do a clean install or the Upgrade option? Just want to confirm which one you used.

Forgot to ask, did you re download the latest MCT, or just run the one you already had from before? It makes a difference.

Probably doesn't in this case. The screenshots are identical to the ones I saw when doing a clean install from the Creators Update USB made by the MCT back in April. I've just downloaded the MCT again and made a new Setup USB. In a command prompt, FC says it's identical to the MCT I downloaded in April. The new install.esd does show differences though, so the image the MCT downloads may have been updated. I'll test a clean install shortly...

Edit: I have done a clean install, deleting the existing partition and installing to the unallocated space. I can confirm that at no point is there any option to set up using a Microsoft Account. The @ symbol is unacceptable in the username field. A local account is the only possible option, it can always changed to a MS account later if you wish.

It makes sense for the first account to be a local one. At least this way we won't be getting all those new posters asking how to change their User folder name after it was set up with the first four characters of their email address. Perhaps Microsoft have been listening to feedback?:)

Interesting, I did a fresh download myself, didn't get a chance to do a clean install with it though. I had to take the cat to the vet for his annual check up. Will probably do a clean install tomorrow just for a look see. Been wanting to redo my spare desktop install anyway. I wonder if this is all Editions or just the MCT ones. No new ISO's were up on MSDN when I looked a few hours ago. No big deal for me, I don't mind doing the install with local, then switching to my Microsoft account.

I just did a clean install with ISO from latest MCT download. I got the option to use a Microsoft account? I installed Windows 10 Home x64. I thought I had taken pictures but I had forgot to put my memory card back in the camera. I think they are on its internal memory, just have to figure out how to get them? I'm pretty sure I didn't screew up and use the wrong ISO, it was the only Windows.iso in my downloads folder. I never got the "how would you like to set up" menu where yo select organization or for personal use. What I got was a "Sign in with Microsoft" screen that had options like e-mail, phone or Skype. I can see my pictures on my camera, just have to figure out how to get them off so I can post them.

Interesting. Well, running Winver on your clean install should be able to confirm if you installed 15063. If indeed you did, one difference from the OP and my tests is that both of us used the MCT to make the bootable USB, not a .iso file as you did. Perhaps they differ?

can you connect PC and camera with a USB cable?
