    Upgrading so far - Success

Greetings O Great Ones, from the Emerald Isle.

Background: I've being using Windows since 3.00a.

    I had a dual boot set-up with 8.1 and 10240.

8.1 downloaded the RTM/GA. I have not upgraded this yet.

10240 downloaded only some of the files for the upgrade so I clean installed the RTM/GA from the USB created from Microsoft. This wouldn't accept my 8.1 Pro key so I skipped the two screens for Key Input. When I checked the copy it was activated. WooHoo! I had to fiddle about to get the Fast/Slow ring option.

    That's it for now.

EDIT: Using update stuck at 2% so I rebooted and it then downloaded drivers for my PC.

EDIT. The above EDIT isn't too clear. After Windows 10 was installed, I used Windows Update on the settings page. This installed drivers as shown by Device Manager. Update stuck at 2% for ages so I rebooted. WU then said it failed to install the drivers that it HAD installed. WU continued till there was no more updates

    you don't need to wait

You don't need to wait if the files have not downloaded.
You can go to Microsoft and install from there.
I have a new Toshiba Radius 11.6 that no files downloaded to, so I went to the following link and downloaded the "media creation tool" and I'm installing now.

Yup, I used that for my PC. I used DISKPART CLEAN to prepare the SSD. I was a bit surprised when I clean installed that the RTM/GA activated.

I upgraded my wife's Windows 7 Ultimate. It took a lot longer than my install. Perhaps an older processor or it had to preserve the existing installed programmes.

I can't find a driver for the Radeon x800 card.

I did a win 8.1 update last week that took 2 hours.
It seemed to be stuck at certain points. I think it was at 12 % for 45 minutes but then continued.
I read somewhere that it could take 3 hours sometimes.

Rebooted my PC, and after going past the usual loading page I get the same black screen.
