But before i do that i will try again with secure boot in the bios off. Having just said that i did a clean install the other day with same results. And on top of that i tried two different versions of Linux. They would run off the USB, ie that was live, but when install was almost done sent an error, nowhere to install grub. So now i have got secure boot off and will see what happens. I have a memory problem as i have had a cerebral aneurysm clipped. It plays with my memory all the time. Will keep you posted.

    No need for a pic...

    Code
    0xC1900101 - 0x40017

    Cause
Windows 10 upgrade failed after the second reboot.
This is usually caused by a faulty driver. For example: antivirus filter drivers or encryption drivers.

    Mitigation
Clean boot into Windows, and then attempt the upgrade to Windows 10.
For more information, see How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

Ensure you select the option to "Download and install updates (recommended)."

Back to the point of system restore after every install. I have had safe boot and legacy enabled/disabled to no avail. Just does not want 10. Have had iso on usb, online installs, no go.
