    Fully installed, but no video.

Many ppl here are having a hard time finishing their install. I got windows 10 fully installed (can get into my account and all, it's all working) but I still have no video. I have win10 on my main pc (everything is fine there) and am trying to install 10 on my old pc in my room. My cheap old motherboard has no integrated graphics, nothing in the bios i can switch (no cables i can switch around either). no video, no mouse cursor. Oh and for some reason, I WAS able to use narrator to navigate, but now it only works until i enter my password, once i'm in my account it stops working. Have tried waiting till i'm in my account to start it, but it just won't work anymore. Wish I knew someway to install nvidia drivers from a usb key. I wanted to use remote desktop connection to install the nvidia drivers. When narrator WAS working, I went in and enabled the remote connections (i think/am pretty sure) on the old pc. But no matter how many times I try, it won't accept my remote login (main account with a password). I also enabled the admin account on the old pc. There should be no password for that. tried remote like that, with "admin", "password", or just nothing as password, but it tells me a restriction is stopping access (thats with no password, seems to be the right way). I can't believe i have a full install, just can't figure out how to update drivers when i can't see anything. Any help would be great.

Summary: how to install drivers blindly (or through usb maybe)? how to fix narrator (might help me get something done), or how to login from remote desktop (i have it enabled on the remote pc and admin account is "activated" for remote use, I THINK).

I tweaked my BIOS settings, set the display output to IGFX, then somehow selected my account and typed in my password. The desktop appeared.

The only issue now is that the settings windows isn't appearing after clicking it. I need to change my resolution
I tried this now I have nothing complete black screen no boot screen or anything. Any advise?

I still haven't solved the 3 screen issue on my x51. I just had to plug into the onboard graphics to switch it back to auto. While t was on it updated and now I have a screen but it's not right. Its detecting 3 screens.

OK alienware x51 here with NVidia gtx 970 gpu. I fixed this issue by starting pc login with black screen. waited for everything to load. I then hit the windows button plus p. Hit the down arrow 3 times then enter. screen will come up. then I went to settings, went into devices clicked on my gpu it said it needed to be restarted for it to be updated. I did that. it worked but then I was having it show 3 monitors instead of my 2. I then went back into devices and disabled my integrated gpu. restarted and BAM my 1 and 2 monitors were back to normal. hopefully they fix it so I don't have to have my integrated gpu disabled but for now its working.

I'm pretty sure the problem is power settings related and not graphics driver related. That's my experience anyway. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly but whereas on Sunday mine would work on battery and not mains, after changing settings it's working on mains and not battery.

Pretty disappointing that MS think that not being able to simply boot into safe mode is a step forward as it is proving very difficult for some to be able to de-bug when you can't see the screen.

    Blue screen no cursor

I've lost track of install attempts. I have now used Acronis True Image to return to my Win8.1 prior to these attempts, but thought I would try here for the solution; which appear to be many. I did have the W10 beta version going, but returned to 8.1. I have a five year old Dell Studio 1747. I have read where video is the culprit. I don't have a second monitor; have tried the Winkey - P; no help there. I have gone into BIOS and no video settings there. So just to clarify; the W10 install does the download, verifies then goes into Creating Windows Media; then Preparing, then checking for updates, them making a few changes (I think that was it) then goes to a blank blue screen. I waited for a long time and nothing happened so here I am looking for suggestions.

It is killing me that an update leads to a black screen, while a straight install seems to work just find; except one loses activation.

Hmm so if we can somehow pass the product # it should install; a moot point I guess.

Anybody know a way to skip product key and get it later; installing by DVD?
