Cant install Windows 10 after preload (error code 80240020)

I did a preload of the Win10 files on three PCs (via cmd prompt and do a "wuauclt /updatenow".

It ran through to 100% and afterwards went into "Preparing ...":

Cant install Windows 10 after preload (error code 80240020)-on6c87o.png

But it broke after a long time with something like couldnt install at least 1 update please restart, on all three PCs.

The $Windows.~BT folder is also different size on the PCs though thats because one is Home the other Pro I guess.

I read here How to force the Windows 10 install (if you have the files downloaded) : Windows10 that you can do your own ISO and do a clean install and it's activated too that way, but how do I know if the content of the folder really is complete?

I've been searching all night how to get windows 10 without waiting.. (Never reserved a copy) But other posts I saw said to run windows update before getting the ISO.. So I ran it and there was 1 update.. I downloaded it and the windows update window changed to windows 10 is coming.... So I saw your post and it said you were missing 1 update.. So I figured I'd try "wuauclt /updatenow" and see how it goes.... It installed and It's registered now. GL

I don't think it's very compatible with anything. this PC i7 Asus 87 Nvidia 980. other AMD PC with 7709GTXand my laptop I3 with intel graphics all did the same.
upgrade status has now changed to "we are working with out partners blah blah" and have finally stopped trying to install.
All using Defender and Windows firewall with basic chipset drivers installed.
My "wait for the first service pack" rule was forgotten!
If it can't install it's probably best to stick to your current version of Windows to avoid a boatload of problems.
    Or wait for SP1 lol!

It is working now, did a clean of the "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" folder again, reboot, did a "wuauclt /updatenow" again, it downloaded everything a 10th time and now it went through...

I guess this is a pretty common issue at the moment

I had the same problems. Failed auto update.

Cleared the download folder and ran the CMD command and it started downloading the Windows 10 update, great I thought

Cant install Windows 10 after preload (error code 80240020)-win10.png

    Then it failed the install.

I went through the same process again, and it started downloading the update, but this time the update size had increased from 5.4gb to now 8.1 gb. Makes no sense at all

Get windows 10 takes you to the reservation screen just saying notify me when ready, which I've already done weeks ago.

Check upgrade status just tells me my upgrade is reserved and nothing to do now.

And then you've got the option to go to Windows Update, which is where I am already.

Still downloading, and still wondering why the size of the download has jumped up 8.1gb in total
