    Fall creators update not initializing(?)

So when i booted my pc this morning, i was greeted with the "hello" screen of the windows update. But then it just stops fading in and giving me black screens amd half-faded in sentences. I decided to give it a while, but after 4 hours it hasn't gotten a step further. The screen is flickering and freezing and i think it's restarting every time.

I don't think I did anything wrong but I might have. I have not turned of the pc since the beginning of the update. Any help, if at all possible, would be fantastic, but i also have backups of my files.

    Thx in advance

Hi there, pluumenbrownie. Welcome to TenForums.

Sounds like a faulty video driver. Let's see if we can get you to boot into Safe Mode. Then we can do some searching. I assume you have another PC or device you can post from also?

    Hello HippsieGypsie,

Are you shure this is safe for my pc? It is doing an update and i have been recommended not to turn it off by a friend.

    Also, thanks for your time

That's certainly a good point and thought about that as well. Some laptops take awhile to upgrade, but towers not nearly as long. Certainly not 4 hours.

Did this update initialize itself? Did you backup your personal files before the update process started?

Oh don't feel that way. Not your fault. I didn't think of that either, but there was surely a risk in rebooting. I'm so glad that fixed it for you.

You do backup, yes? Turn on restore points, cuz it's off by default.
