Preparing for Windows 10 Install Not Going Well...

I have tried everything that I know of to prepared for the install of W10 and I can't get that Windows logo to appear on my taskbar to save my life.
If anyone has any other advice to offer, I'm all ears as this is very frustrating...

I assume you have done a windows update? If not as Microsoft are doing a gradual rollout when your machine is ready for Win 10 the little Win logo will eventually appear in the taskbar when it is ready and then you can click on it to reserve your copy.

I have in fact done the update. I am not running the latest BIOS for my MSI Z97 Gaming 5 mobo though because I am receiving a error everytime I try to install the onboard VGA driver (which is a prerequisite required) prior to updating the BIOS.
Could a out of date BIOS be the culprit?

Not totally sure but it could. If you do upgrade the BIOS be careful.
