    System update / upgrade

    Hello,
After reading all your answers, I would like to summarize if I understood well before I break something.
To do a repair install with inplace upgrade Windows 10 as on tutorial "https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html", I have to:
    1. Download "Media creation tool" and run it - (otherwise how do I download the iso file)
    2. Download the the Iso file
    3. Uninstall antivirus, what security I have when on-line, the uninstall involves
using a tool and several restarts
4.Mount the iso file and run the setup.
Pause: Recovered registration numbers of windows10 and office 2007, name of the tool "product key"downloaded yesterday, but if it comes to install office, have not the installation disk.
5.When setup finished - what do I have. which windows, what about other installed programs.
    6. In the meantime no antivirus and I'm still online
    7. If everything ok, have to install antivirus, and what about updates ?
    8. Then make a new image backup with Macrium (if its still installed)

This is my homework, correct me if I'm wrong, please.
Any time estimation of such an operatiom.
    Answers will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Correct. I believe you select "make for another computer" in order to get an ISO.

Yes, I would uninstall any 3rd-party anti-virus to be safe.

Yes, setup.exe will perform an in-place repair/upgrade, and you select to keep all files and apps.

Use showkeyplus to grab your W10 key if you like.
    ShowKeyPlus - Windows 10 Forums
Use Belarc Advisor to grab your Office2007 key.
    Products: Belarc Advisor
You will be able to download installation media from MS if you have the key.

When finished, you will have the latest version of W10 available to the general public, plus all your apps and data.
    Motim said:

Yes, but if you're behind a router, I wouldn't worry about it for a short amount of time.
    Motim said:
    7. If everything ok, have to install antivirus, and what about updates ?
Yes, then reinstall an AV (or use Defender); Windows Updates will come through normally.

Great idea. Matter of fact, make an image before you do this whole thing, just in case.

Timing for the in-place repair/upgrade could be about an hour - depends on the system.

    Hope that helps.

    Hello,
    Thanks for this detailed answer.
Will this upgrade keep all my installed programs, mainly the Macrium reflect to make an image as soon as upgrade is finished. My recent image contains also AVG antivirus, so when I uninstall it prior to update, have to make a new image without the AVG in case I have to roll back.
I spent lot of hours to install all the programs and customize them.
Found & downloaded Office 2007 enterprise iso file.
    Thanks for the answer

Motim, you want to make an image BEFORE you do the in-place repair/upgrade. That way, if anything goes wrong, you have your image to fall back on. Have you been using Macrium all along, or is this a first for you? If you've been using Macrium all along, then I will tell you this:
    1. Check the health of your HDD (Crystal Disk Info)
    2. Prepare the OS for upgrade (remove AVG, system tweakers, external devices-except your ext HDD for the image, second monitors, etc.)
    3. Make a Macrium image - be sure it's verified! (use the notes section to indicate precisely what this image is)
    4. Create the rescue media - be sure the system boots from it!
    5. (or) Add Macrium to the boot menu (makes life a LOT easier) Note: You'll still need boot media in case your drive dies, or you completely replace it.
    6. Run CHKDSK on your OS drive-if any changes are made, make another verified image
    7. Remove the ext HDD with your images on it.
    8. Run the upgrade (at this point your system will be using Windows Defender by default, so no worries on AV)
    9. Make another verified image (use the notes section to describe this image as well)
    10. Modify to your preferences (AVG/AVAST/ESET, MBAM, ect.)
    11. Once satisfied, make a final verified image.

All your programs and data should be intact. If you're new to Macrium, please ask and I will provide detailed instructions.

    System update / upgrade

    Hello,
Thank you again for detailed instructions.
So this post is just for information.
Started using Macrium free version since my windows 7 pc which gone dead. Bought the present pc with window 10 pro and office 2007 enterprise and avg antivirus installed. Macrium was the first thing to install, and keep it updated, make frequently images and differentials and allways verify them. After macrium is updated I make a rescue cd and test it. The Images are stored on a second HD since no option to boot from usb.
Recently have problems (as you know) updating the system.
Now about AVG, for some time I want to get rid of it, it became too much 'independent', I keep updating the virus definitions, but it updates the program without asking and each time uses more disk space, so this is a good chance to uninstall it, instead plan to install Avast after the whole "operation".
Office 2007 is installed, but for safety found the iso file here "http://allpcworld.com/?s=office+2007+enterprise", on that site (4.5 hours download) are many other programs to download.
To retrieve windows and office code numbers I used "Product Key", I will try also those recomended by you.
    System disk was checked.
To check ocasionaly new programs I use "Time Freeze".
I think that will be all for now.
    Many thanks.

Okay good, so you are very familiar with Macrium.

We don't recommend any MS ISO from a non-MS site. You can get the official ISO from MS here, using your keycode:
Download Office 2007 | Office 2007 Product Key

Scroll down until you see this:
    System update / upgrade-image.png
Note that support for Office 2007 ends October 10, 2017.

    Good luck!

    Hello,
Had some problems to attach/upload screenshots to previous posts, will try this time.
    1. Tried to download Office from the address you wrote - my retrieved key code is wrong, made a chat, results please see atteched screenshot.
    2. About the language issue I wrote in previous post.
    3. Downloaded the Windows Iso file, everything went fine, just checked integrity of the file with 7Z, and found some error, please see attached screenshot.
Hope it will not be neccessary to enter key codes, as I see now, even they are in the system, they are wrong.
Any instructions to go on, please.
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi. Here's info on how to attach a screenshot here:
How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files at Ten Forums Windows 10 Tutorials
Perhaps you can just type in what the error/answer is, if this doesn't work?
If you paid for this software and the MS website says it's not a good key, then you need to go back to the place of purchase and have them fix things.

How long ago did you "order" the system? Do you still have the delivery invoice? (Maybe the information is on there.) If you look and see what language packs are installed, perhaps you can tell - was Hebrew added? or was English added? If this is indeed a Hebrew language installation, then you would need to select that when building the W10 ISO.

You must use the correct ISO to perform the in-place repair/upgrade or it will not work. At least you have the Macrium backup in case things get messed up.
