    Reinstalling deleted update

I had to accept the automatic installation of the Windows 10 Creators update but didn't want it so I uninstalled it. I now want to put it back in. Is it possible to do this?

    Welcome to TenForums @Sirius41

Do you mean it installed successfully, then you chose to go back to your previous version? If so then you already know that it should have no problems installing and running on your PC.

There are several ways you can get the Creators Update back. You could use the Update Assistant...

Update to Latest Version of Windows 10 using Update Assistant

....or use the Media Creation Tool to download the install media, either as a .iso file or to a USB memory stick, then use that to perform the upgrade...

    Download Windows 10 ISO File

...use Step 4 here for the .iso, Step 5 for the USB.

    Upgrade to Windows 10

My personal preference is to make the USB media because you get to keep a bootable install USB for later use, either as a repair tool or a clean install, should you wish to. It's also useful if you have several machines to upgrade.

It installed successfully and then I deleted it. The problem seems to be that my system is recognising that the update has already been installed but not that it has been removed. So I can download the update again, no problem, but when I run the download it goes straight to the 'Thank you for installing . . . ' screen without actually installing it!

On Windows 7 there was a list of uninstalled updates from which you could reinstall those about which you had changed your mind but this doesn't appear in Windows 10. I also looked at System Restore, thinking that if I could return to the point before the update was installed it would remove any evidence of it having been there, but the available restore points don't go back far enough.

How precisely did you 'delete' it? What version and os build number are you now on? Use WinKey+R and run Winver to find out. The latest version of Creators is version 1703, os build 15063.332. Are you on Home or Pro?

The Creators Update is actually a full upgrade to a completely new version of windows. It's not like an update that just installs a few patches.

I went to Installed Updates, clicked on Delete an Installed Update, selected the Creators Update and deleted it. Then shut computer down and rebooted. The list of installed updates includes version 1703 but it no longer appears when I click on the Delete an Installed Update page.
I have Windows 10 Home, version 1703, OS build 15063.296, which isn't the latest one, so that is giving mixed messages.
The reason I'm trying to do this is that one of my programmes is not working properly and the helpline for the programme tells me that a driver is missing, but it appears to be a Windows driver, not the programme one. I have been through everything in Device Manager and all have the latest drivers.

OK, you are running the Creators Update with the cumulative update that was issued on 9th May. There was a further cumulative update on 25th May that took the build up to 15063.332 (which is probably the one you uninstalled). There will almost certainly be another cumulative update later today, shortly after 6pm UK time. Today is the second Tuesday of the month, otherwise known as 'Patch Tuesday', when Microsoft routinely issue their monthly cumulative updates.

To get up to date, go to Settings > Update & security and click 'Check for updates'. This should reinstall Cumulative Update KB4020102 Windows 10 v1703 Build 15063.332 Or wait until this evening for the new update, each cumulative update includes all fixes from the previous ones.

This is probably not going to solve your problem though, uninstalling a cumulative update is unlikely to have removed a driver. What is your 'problem' programme and what driver does it complain that's missing? Do you see any error messages? If so, can you post a screenshot?

    Reinstalling Deleted updates

The programme is my email, eM Client. It does an automatic backup every day and downloads it into the Backups folder on my D drive (I don't use the Windows 10 filing system at all). A week or so ago something happened to this programme and all my files, folders and emails disappeared. I downloaded it again and they all reappeared. However I am now unable to change the destination folder for the backup. It doesn't seem able to find the one it was using before, so I am simply getting the following error message:
'The file 'C:/program files(86)/driver support/svc\install.log' couldn't be open (sic) to write the data.'

I have a screen print, but can't seem to upload it onto here. (5 secs later - I see that I have, it just didn't appear until after I posted this reply.)

Thank you, Bree, for your efforts to help me. In fact the problem has resolved itself in that yesterday the programme makers released an updated version and installing this seems to have supplied whatever was missing. So I'm OK now, thanks.
