Message on screen after Media Creation Tool has finished?

    Hi,
I created a Windows 10 bootable USB flash drive using the instructions on this site. After the download finshed, it verified and then created the Windows 10 installation media. The next screen was Your USB Flash Drive is Ready so I clicked on the Finish tab. A screen then showed briefly saying something along the lines of Cleaning Up Files...This may take several minutes. After five seconds the screen disappeared. Are you supposed to remove the USB flash drive as soon as that screen has disappeared or are you supposed to wait several minutes to see if another screen comes up to say the Clean up of files process has finished? I wasn't sure what to do? Has everybody else seen this Cleaning Up files screen?
    Thanks

You don't have to leave the USB flash drive in during that time, but you can. The cleaning up files process is removing temporary files from the system hard drive or SSD that were used to create the flash drive with. It is not doing anything with the flash drive itself.

Yes, as NavyLCDR said, temporary files on your system drive that were being cleared up. The message disappearing was the signal that the clean up had completed.

Hi NavyLCDR, So following what you've said..As soon as you get the message USB flash Drive is Ready and you've clicked on Finish its safe to immediately remove the USB flash Drive from the PC?
When the Cleaning up files screen appeared saying it could take several minutes but then disappeared after about five seconds. Does that mean the clean up process had finished?..or is there a message appears at some point several minutes later to tell you the clean up has finished. I didn't receive any other screen messages?

Yes, as soon as it says the USB flash drive is ready, you can safely remove the flash drive.

I don't know if the MCT keeps removing files after the cleaning up files screen disappears or not, but I do know there is no final confirmation screen that the program has completed removing the temporary files.

Hi Bree, So is it safe to remove the USB flash drive immediately when you get the USB flash drive is Ready and you've clicked on Finish?
