The chkdsk e and c were both ok.

Run the beta log collector and post a new zip into the thread.

Hi Ken, i tried running the verification utility but does not support H81M - P33 mobo, and yes the link you showed is the correct mobo model. I'd be willing to flash IME as a last resort really. If it's the mobo that is faulty, I'll buy a replacement and try flashing the firmware then.

@ zbook - I have really bad hearing. So not much lol. What i can see is when i power on, is the power light and case LEDs and HS&Fan + case fans working. When i restart from windows, all that happens is the power down process ( windows shutting down ) and then no reboot, just a display showing me " NO SIGNAL " . The fans and lights never go off. I have to hold the power button for several seconds to force shut down. Then i boot as normal by pressing the power switch again.

Beta Log Collector ? how ?

The first chkdsk for C: displayed:

Windows has made corrections to the file system.

The second chkdsk for C: displayed:

Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems.

So their Live Update Utility posted on the board's web page doesn't run on the board. That is weird.

Did you check out their forum? Did you try an older level of the driver?

It certainly is worth checking everything out in your OS environment but I think you said you did a clean install on a new ssd and it acted the same as the old installation. To me that points to something lower in the architecture.

    I hope you find it.

Hi Zbook : As mentioned earlier that i bought a new SSD drive to check if the existing SSD and OS was the root of the problem. I installed win10 OS from a bootable flash drive on to the new SSD and the reboot problem persisted. I also mentioned that i have bread boarded this PC with just the MOBO, CPU, 1 stick of RAM, HDD and PSU only and tried to boot with on board video graphics to rule out GPU / PCI-e slot as the problem. I have removed cmos too in the past, reset the jumpers and nothing changed. I think Ken is on the right path by pointing at the MOBO too as the cause of the problem. It is concerning though that we saw that the Drive C did have to do a clean up operation when we ran the chkdsk. But i feel the restart problem is not because of this.

@ Ken, The Verification util i ran was not compatible with p33 ( p55 was the closest compatible version ) to my H81m mobo This prevented me finding out which version the IME i have installed. I will check MSI forums and investigate further with the flashing and problems others have had with this and get back here in the next day or so with any findings on the matter and update the info.

Cheers both for your help, it is very much appreciated.

    Good luck.

We had another thread and when a specific drive was connected machine flat out won't boot.

I know time is not unlimited but I might also try a clean install on something like a 500GB spinner, basic old school tech.

Please do post back. Would be interested in resolution.

Please update the progress with the steps in post #25.

Problems with the GPU need to be ruled in /ruled out.

For motherboard some testing can be done with Memtest86+ version 5.01.

When backup have been done and the methods to turn off or recover from using windows driver verifier are understood the tool can be turned on.

The took, windows driver verifier, will stress drivers and misbehaving drivers will crash.
After the crash a dump file is typically created and the file can be debugged to find problematic drivers and sometimes hardware.

The tool will repetitively produce BSOD until the tool is turned off or until all misbehaving drivers are fixed.

To turn off or recover from using the tool the steps after each crash will be performed using the windows advanced troubleshooting menu.
    a) startup settings (not startup repair) > click restart > select safe mode with command prompt #6 > type:
    verifier /reset
    b) command prompt > administrator X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe > X:\sources> type:
    verifier /bootmode resetonbootfail
    c) system restore

The methods to turn off Windows driver verifier should be performed in the order above and only advanced to the next steps if the prior step failed. System restore often leads to a loss of the dump file and then little progress is made in the troubleshooting.

For every BSOD run the BETA log collector and post a new zip into the thread.
Open file explorer > this PC > C: > in the right upper corner search for: C:\windows\memory.dmp > if the file is < 2GB then zip and post one drive or drop box share links into the thread

The windows driver verifier tool can cause sluggishness and slow boot. If necessary the customized settings can be modified.

The tool will be run for 48 hours. After the last bsod turn the tool on for an additional 36 hours of typical computer use. If there are no more bsod that will conclude the use of the tool.
