Cost of Upgrade from XP to Win10Pro

I am considering buying a new-used system that still has the original XP on it, probably not Pro.

I want to install Win10Pro on it from ISO.

AFAIK, there is no free upgrade from XP, so does anybody know how much a Pro license costs?

The installation will prompt me for the key -- so do I need to get it first by calling MS, or do I install and then call for the key?

Will the license work with any version of Win10 pro -- for example, if I install 1511 rather than the latest version?

You will have to install a later version that 1511.

You may be able to get it cheaper at a place like Amazon.

Biggest issue may be in finding drivers that will work on Win10. The Upgrade offered was from Win7 w/SP1 or Win8.1.

If you're buying a computer, I think the cost of a Win 10 Pro licence will far outweigh the cost of the computer itself. And a computer which came with XP is already 10 years old or more.
I'd look for a newer computer to be honest.

    Thanks.

Looks like these are student prices, for which I am not eligible.

Is the only way to install Win10Pro on a XP computer to buy a box from MS? I can't install an ISO version?

You can install from a downloaded .iso file but the cost would be for a Product Key to enable installing.

Also consider the cost of a copy of Win10 could be anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of a new computer. Many stores and online offers have Notebooks from $299 to $500 or more such as Wal*Mart, BestBuy, Staples, OfficeDepot/OfficeMac, etc., and will carry a full warranty which the used computer won't have.

    Yeah, I'm finding it out.

It's not a very old computer -- it's a good balance between power and $. In general that model comes with Win10Pro, but it is a later version that 1511 and for various reasons I don't need and want it.

What I want to do is install from ISO. But it looks like I can't do that even on a system that has Win10Pro activated on it -- there is no way to install older versions at all from ISO. Do I understand this correctly?

What about a system that has 1511Pro installed and something happens that I need to reinstall it -- I can't reinstall it from ISO either? Must I use WU to fix it, which will upgrade me to latest?

There is a constraint: it must be the same model I already have (my old backup croaked). I am running 1511Pro on the one I have, and they usually don't come with 1511Pro. So the question is if I buy a key for Win10Pro can I install then whatever Pro version I want, or is the key associated with the latest Pro version?

Nope -- see my other post. I already have the drivers. I just want the ability to install an older version of 10Pro.

Why older version again? I don't understand.
