Clean install of windows 10 on SSD when upgraded from win 7

I upgraded to windows 10 for free from windows 7. I want to buy an ssd to replace my hard drive and perform a fresh, clean install. How do I install windows 10 on my ssd without having to purchase? Is it possible?

Welcome to Ten Forums Tizer :)

You simply do a clean install and windows will activate when you get online, just choose skip when it asks for a key during the install.

Once you`ve upgraded to W10 on your motherboard you have what is called a Digital License, which is stored on Microsoft`s servers.

Make sure you get your Network drivers before you start, you`ll need to install them before you can get online.

Windows 10 may have the drivers, it may not. Better to be safe then sorry.

Yea with modern Windows, you don't need to do anything extra for SSDs.

Make sure you install the same version that is on it now. If its Home install Home, if its Pro install Pro. Install the wrong version and it won't activate.

Also, if you had Windows 10 Home before that does not mean to try to install Windows 10 Home Single Language. Single Language is a completely unique and different version than just plain regular Windows 10 Home.
