Does it apply to a device running Linux?

It should apply to any browser that identifies itself as belonging to a 'foreign' OS, though to be honest I hadn't tried in on actual Linux, just used emulation in windows - Linux isn't in the list for Edge/IE's emulation so I used Safari.

I have tested it now - booted from a Knoppix Live USB with Iceweasel. I needed to give permission for scripts to run but was then diverted to the direct download page.

Simply by clicking on 'Yes' in a dialog box?

Yes, on visiting the download page a dialog box popped up at the bottom of the screen with option to allow scripts to run. Only after allowing the script did it divert from the 'download the MCT' page to 'download an iso'.

    It says...
Links are valid for 24 hours from time of creation.
...so it shouldn't be that. I've just started a download - I'm getting 17Mbps, estimated time 35 minutes. Let's see how it goes....

    Edit: Completed OK.

Sounds like your connection is being interrupted. An ISP problem perhaps, rather than anything at your end or Microsoft's server. What browser are you using? If you use IE and select 'view downloads' (Ctrl+J) then if there's an interruption you'll see a 'Resume' button, you should be able to carry on from where you had got to. There should be something similar in other browsers.

Rather than start a new download each time, have a look in your browser's download history and see if you can resume the attempt that got furthest before it stopped.

I don't have an Android device, but apparently...
The latest Google Chrome release for Android, version 50, has a new download manager baked-in that allows users to pause and resume their downloads.
