    win 10 boot USB creation

I downloaded the USB creation tool for my new DELL from the Microsoft website and followed the directions, it went through hours of updates and reboots but failed to create the recover image on the USB. I tried again and it again went through hours of updates and reboots which surprised me since it already had the updates. Still no boot USB. Why do they make it so hard? What am I missing? thanks

    Welcome to TenForums @akqj9

Do you mean you downloaded the Media Creation Tool from Get Windows 10 then ran it? If so, you must select 'Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC' before clicking 'Next'. If you don't you will upgrade your PC. Judging by the hours it took and the multiple restarts, sound like that's just what you did (twice).
