I cut this post as it was less informative than the new one below. Did not realize this one had posted before it was finished.

WIM iso's are my preference as you can mount them to repair an image. MS likes to use ESD's as they are a bit smaller size to download. MS ISO's contain multi-versions(home,pro,etc). If downloading CU or any OS(with the actual computer the ISO is for)MS can auto-detect correct edition/architecture. Both of mine are multi-language. You must have the correct download or you will not be able to activate the downloaded OS after installation. I recently downloaded Win 8.1 and Win10(1607) as ISO's from the MS site. They are about 4GB ESD downloads. I then converted them to WIM's with freeware(several are available such at NTlite, ESD-WIM, ESD2WIM-WIM2ESD-v2, etc.). I then used Rufus(freeware) to create bootable USB drives for install/repair of the OS. When using Rufus you need to know which partition scheme(GPT or MBR) your computer/s use. This can be found using Diskpart commands.

Thanks for posting this. I couldn't run the media creation tool on one of my systems, so I really appreciate your solution for downloading the ISOs directly.

I work in North Alaska and internet is slow. I have tried to run MCT but it times out I guess and closes the window. I do have it downloading currently straight an .iso but it's going to take 6 to 11 days according to Chrome download manager. Is there a safe torrant link with a SHA or a way to download through CMD Prompt. In powers shell there is a GET-DISKIMAGE -IMAGEPATH but that's not really working for me. It is the direct link to the windows 10 English 64-bit. What worries me is on the page it says that the link expires in 24 hours and it takes 6+ days for me to download. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...d/windows10ISO

Do you have a friend who already has a current ISO file? As long as it's the same version you have a license for, it will work.

Or do you have a friend with faster internet who would download it for you?

I can sympathize with your situation, but I would never trust any Windows ISO downloaded from any place other than Microsoft.

I have been using 10 Mbps Internet for a decade.
Last year, it took 55 minutes to download version 1709. Last night, it took 3 hours and 46 minutes to download version 1803. I don't know why there is such a big difference as MCT was used in both cases.
