Thanks to both for your answers. So it doesn't matter which method of obtaining the ISO, if i understand properly.

Only if you want to burn the ISO to a DVD. The MCT creates media which includes four versions of the Creators Update: Pro, Home, Home Single Language, and Education. This makes it a little too large to fit on a single-layer DVD. This isn't a problem if you make the USB, or mount the ISO within Windows to use it.

If size is a consideration, HeiDoc (and, as far as I can tell the 'browser ID change' trick, it seems to generate the same download links as HeiDoc) will download a smaller ISO with less editions in it. You should get Home/Pro in the ISO whichever route you choose.

Thanks Bree. I have downloaded the ISO using the HeiDoc tool and is now burning to DVD.

You can check which editions your ISO contains from a command prompt (admin) by running:
    dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:D:\x64\sources\install.esd
(change the path as appropriate, and the name to install.wim if that's what you've got)

    How big was your ISO?

The ISO i downloaded from HeiDoc tool has install.wim
For the Redstone 2 64bit the ISO was 4.03 GB, but it wouldnt burn to a standard DVD, I had to burn it to a dual layer. It contains Home and Pro editions.

Last week I downloaded the ISO via MCT and saved (rather than burnt) the setup files to a USB drive, via which clean installation was performed.

    Hi @Bree

Yes indeed your correct. I forgot to mention that. Tnx for pointing that out. I will make the change to the initial post to reflect that. I forgot that I even did that several months ago...lol.

Note: That HeiDoc utilty will be updated shortly as to include the latest Insider Preview versions as well (the latest 16176 and all others from 15063 up to it. Currently, v4.32 has the older 15063 IP as the latest and will be updated shortly. This utility gets the files from the MS TechBench repository.

Yes. I've tested that. See: Features for Windows 10 1703 Where to find to install on a USB stick.
