    Poll - Easiest upgrade ever

    Hi there

Just curious here about experiences of your upgrades

Essentially I'm interested in these options

    1) Easy upgrade
    2) Upgraded but some minor problems
    3) difficult upgrade but still upgraded
    4) reverted back to previous version

    Cheers

Upgraded 3 Dell Desktops, two XPS8700, one XPS 8300, yesterday and one Dell Inspiron laptop today with no problems so far. Used the MCT to make USB stick.

Upgraded two machines so far. My test box, an ancient, somewhat memory- and processor-challenged 7 year old Dell desktop (Home, 32-bit) and my Dell Inspiron 15 3000-series laptop (Pro, 64-bit). Both took about 45 minutes start to finish, and no issues yet with either machine.

I used the Upgrade Assistant and upgraded my desktop and laptop last night to the Creators Update. Neither had any issues and it seemed like a much smother and faster process than previous upgrades.

    Very easy.

Edit: actually, later, nothing but problems. I reinstalled Win 8.1 since I don't want to go through that twice a year.

No issues with the upgrade but....

The Control Panel is now missing when right clicking the Start menu. (Easily fixed by pinning the icon to the taskbar) but why ?

And now the cpu does not fully clock down using the Balanced plan. I mean it`s all over the place

One Down - One To Go

Just updated the Desktop with no real issues. Just my typical loooong delay from Lock Screen to the Desktop display with these updates.

OOPS! Turns out my update was not the CU. Sorry ...

I downloaded the ISO using MCT last week and mounted the ISO on my 3 systems. Each took about 45min to upgrade to 15063.13. Yesterday WU updated all 3 to 15063.138 and all is good.
The only problem was I lost my Windows 7 games but I had the install exe and they installed just fine.

I was amazed how well the upgrade went if I'm honest.

    Issues:

1/ Disappointed that the font/icon customisation had been removed although Brinks comprehensive tutorial and reg files covering every possible font size fixed the issue and let me set things as I wanted.

2/ Absolutely as expected, the Vista/W7 games folder was wiped clean. Had to reinstall but find that although each game will run, the 'games launcher' is missing.

3/ Following the upgrade (and also clean installs) I have a curious issue of a couple of sites keep failing to be accessed using Edge. I 'm working on that one. Not sure if its a DNS issue or some incompatability between the OS and router/ISP. Have just switched to 'Open DNS' to see if that fixes things.

5/ Good points. All my customised start menu layout carried over along with custom tiles and custom quick launch tiles.

I would have to say full marks for the way it all went on the whole. MS (not forgetting all the insiders) did a fantastic job in making it such a trouble-free experience.
