Which Insider ISO Contains the Windows 10 Home Version?

    Hello all,

I registered at the Insider website but I could not find an exclusive Windows 10 Home ISO so I downloaded this one:

Which Insider ISO Contains the Windows 10 Home Version?-select.jpg

However, when I verify the ISO it shows its for Windows 10 Pro.

Is this perhaps a multi-version ISO, and, if not, where do I get the one that is exclusively for Windows 10 Home?

    Thanks for your help,

    WOT

It should contain both version, but you can download it from TechBench by WZT as well.

@TairikuOkami: Thank you so much. I am downloading the Pro + Home version as we speak. However, it would still be nice for someone to confirm which ISO they downloaded for Win 10 Home.

    Thanks a bunch!

That is it - all Insider isos contain Home and PRO. The release version will also contain Education (separate here). Only PITA is there are no Insider previews for EU N versions so I will have to wait on my main laptop until 11th April (not sure if update assistant will work).

As an aside, you normally need to reinstall a new media pack for N versions upon upgrading, and I have yet to see one - I hope that is coming soon - last one was released same day as iso was released.

@cereberus: Thank you for that detailed clarification.

@TairikuOkami: I just downloaded the Pro + Home version from the website you recommended; however, when I verified it, I noticed something that I never saw before:

Which Insider ISO Contains the Windows 10 Home Version?-hal.jpg

The HAL entry is usually undefined.

I'm hitting the sack right now but I will respond to any new responses in 6 hours (or so).

    Thanks for responding guys!

We are talking 64-bit, right? And which language?

This is the ISO file I downloaded from the exact same link in the OP directly from Microsoft:
    Windows10_InsiderPreview_Client_x64_en-us_15063.iso
File Size listed in Windows Explorer: 4,232,730 KB

This is what is inside the install.wim file:
    Code:
    I:\sources>dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:install.wim

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
    Version: 10.0.15063.0

    Details for image : install.wim

    Index : 1
    Name : Windows 10 Pro
    Description : Windows 10 Pro
    Size : 15,305,539,033 bytes

    Index : 2
    Name : Windows 10 Home
    Description : Windows 10 Home
    Size : 15,127,824,725 bytes

    The operation completed successfully.
Looking at Index 1, mine shows HAL unspecified:

    Code:
    I:\sources>dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:install.wim /index:1

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
    Version: 10.0.15063.0

    Details for image : install.wim

    Index : 1
    Name : Windows 10 Pro
    Description : Windows 10 Pro
    Size : 15,305,539,033 bytes
    WIM Bootable : No
    Architecture : x64
    Hal : <undefined>
    Version : 10.0.15063
    ServicePack Build : 0
    ServicePack Level : 0
    Edition : Professional
    Installation : Client
    ProductType : WinNT
    ProductSuite : Terminal Server
    System Root : WINDOWS

@WOT - since your file size for index 1 is different and the Hal: entry is different from that provided directly from Microsoft, that tells me that the second ISO file you downloaded from the third party source not directly from Microsoft has been modified. Also the number of files is different as well - there are more than 4,000 more files than in the Microsoft image - what is in those 4,000 extra files? I wouldn't trust it.

EDIT: I just downloaded a new ISO file directly from Microsoft April 5. I got exactly the same results so Microsoft has not changed the ISO file.

@NavyLCDR: Thank you very much for making that comparison. We are talking about x64 English. Yes, I did download the second file from a third-party source; however, as long as the MS file can install either Pro or Home, I will use that one if necessary.

Thanks to all who responded and helped.
