You could also do the "gatherosstate" procedure from the messed up W7 install you have right now, then clean install W10 and use the activation (GenuineTicket.xml) of the previous W7 install to activate the W10 install. I've done that in the past and it works quite well.
True! And that's a great way to handle it if the Windows 7/8/8.1 product key is blocked from online activation.
