    8.1 to windows 10 upgrade

Hello Guys and Gals, a friend of mine as ask me how to they go about upgrade there laptop from 8.1 to 10, i thought the free upgrade was over, they have not use the laptop in over a 2 year, and said that they brought it legally.

I heard that they could use Microsoft assisted Technology

is this option feasible?, and how long would the upgrade take ? and how to i find out if it is a Genuine 8.1 ?

    Thanks in Advance

Does the friend actually use Assistive Technology because they have a handicap? This forum does not condone abusing offers meant for the less fortunate among us.

Download the Windows 10 ISO file:
    Windows 10 ISO Download

Mount it in Windows 8.1 (just right click and mount). Run setup.exe from the new drive letter that opens up. Microsoft is still activating upgrades for free.

...how to i find out if it is a Genuine 8.1
    Press Windows key + R
In the Open area of the Run prompt, type in:

    slmgr.vbs /DLV
Use the Snipping Tool to capture an image, and provide it in your reply.

Read somewhere that the latest Win 10 Insider Prev will be upgrades to Win 10 full when it is released. A good idea to install this sooner rather than upgrading Win 7 / 8.1 to 10?
