Microsoft isn't mentioned in the title banner, only Windows 10 Forums, pretty much self-explanatory. If searching for something the results received will be totally dependent upon the terms/words used.

Most forums are visited by and questions answered by Volunteers who offer to help those asking.

Computers Upgraded from Win8.1 or Win7 w/SP1 under the free program that ended last July can be factory reset but it depends upon one of two things, the first being if the factory restore partition is still intact on the HDD and the other is if the included software of the original install was used to create the disc for the factory restore. The Product Key is still valid.

8's long gone from my drive but I got to 10 without anything external and I am pretty sure I installed the windows 8 iso by just mounting it in windows, but I'm not sure if specifically going from 10 back to 8 is gonna make it seem like that works until halfway through then mess up and everything ends up lost

what's cheaper nowadays an external cd drive or a usb drive I still have the 8 cd's but I can't really afford either right now although I could just switch to linux I know that's possible I might just do that I'm over what microsoft's become anyway I almost want a mac at this point lol but if I can go to 8 from 10 I'll see if 8's still worth using if it still works as good as it did I'd much rather have 8 than linux but 10 has gotta go lol

jsyk I searched official windows 10 forums and as many variants I could think of for it I wish what you said was true it's never dependant on what I type for me it specifically finds the wrong stuff on purpose lol

I get my External DVD burner drives for less than $50USD. A 16GB USB Thumb/Flash drive can be had on sale by shopping around for between $10 and $20USD, 8GB maybe even less.

Ubuntu is good, I use Linux Mint 17.3 on a Desktop and Linux Mint 18 on a Notebook I resurrected. A good program for Windows, Linux and macOS [formerly Mac OS X] is LibreOffice, cross-platform and can work with Microsoft Office and the discontinued Microsoft Works files and a number of others including WordPerfect. Firefox came with my versions.

May I ask why you`d want to go back to 8 ?

    10 is much better :)

The cost to install Windows 8, Windows 10, and Linux is exactly the same (since you have the Windows 8 product key). It's about $7, unless you already have one of these laying around:
