    Windows 10 installation

    Hi guys,

I was trying to re-install windows 10 on dell 7270, boot from DVD and run the setup, it went along but after sometime it came back with an error that selected device did not find.

If i try to reset the PC, i got the error message : unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing.

Now if I try to re the device, I got error messageThe drive where Windows is installed is locked.

I belief I have messed somewhere

    Please help

The following will erase everything on the hard drive on the computer:

When you get to the first screen after booting the computer from the DVD, press shift+F10. That will open a command prompt. In the command prompt run:

    diskpart
    select disk 0
    clean
    exit
    exit

Then continue with Windows 10 setup. Select the custom install option. You should see the hard drive listed with nothing but unallocated space. Highlight the unallocated space and click Next to let Windows set up everything on the hard drive.

This will erase everything on the hard drive, including any factory recovery partitions that were there.

No. If you don't have a product key stored in UEFI/BIOS, the Windows 10 license is stored on Microsoft activation servers and will be retrieved by Windows 10 to activate when connected to the internet.
