1607 update still fails with error 0x8024200D

I currently have version 1511 build 10586.753 of windows 10 pro 32 bit.

Windows update installs 1607 but fails after rebooting and restore this build.

Event Viewer shows "Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200D: Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607."

I have tried the following standalone installers:
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 (KB3176495)
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 (KB3176929)
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 (KB3213986)
each one fails to start by saying " The update is not applicable to your computer."

My C drive is a 100gb PCIe RevoDrive drive with 30gb free. I remember getting similar errors when I first upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7, and discovered that the upgrade wanted a ton of free space. I corrected it by temporarily cloning the c drive to a 400gb sata, and then moving it back after install. Is this the issue once again?

Is there a more appropriate standalone installer to try?

And why is the 1511 build 10586.753 build dated 1/20/2017 still being updated when Version 1607 build 14393 has been out for months? I thought 1607 was to replace the 1511. Am I just not eligible for it?

    Windows 10 Pro Build 1703

    Welcome to the TenForums @sgw

Version 1511 is still being maintained and as that is the version you are on so Windows is keeping it up to date. You can't install the Cumulative Updates for 1607 as you are getting them for 1511.

When I look up your error it says possible corruption in files that were downloaded.

First I would get a tool like Macrium Reflect and create an Image of your system. Not sure if your data is on separate drive but in case things go wrong you want to be able to get back to where you are today. Don't forget Macrium boot disk.

Please check out Macrium Reflect as an Imaging tool. It is recommended and used by members on this forum. It is free, reliable and a fast way to restore to a working system.

Next I would ensure I have a data backup. While this next process is not supposed to do any harm to your files I error on the side of safety.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

I would likely use step 4 in tutorial.

I'll follow up with what I've done to correct the problem, just in case someone else is experiencing this phenomenon. The constant update reminder going on for months now, ending in failure has been most bothersome.

In my original post, I mentioned some hints that I hoped would prompt an answer. They were "revodrive" aka an SSD, and the fact that I had a similar problem in upgrading from 7 to 10 in the first place. While my solution for that was brute force (moving a 95gb SSD to a 1tb HD, installing, then moving back), the real hint of a solution was found by google translate of a Russian site.

They said that some of the Windows Update Archives ABSOLUTELY NEED to be on a drive with 4k clusters. My SSD had defaulted to 1k clusters with Windows 7.

Some MiniTool and some Paragon later, and I had my SSD converted to 4K clusters. I then let regular old Windows Update take another wack at it and behold, version 1607 Build 14393.693.

I might also add that the in place upgrade did not work, nor did the MediaCreationTool that I eventually found.
