How to install a new windows 10 64 bit on top windows 10 32 bit PC?

Hello. Can anyone please help???.
I have a Lenovo PC that is running on Windows 10 pro 32 bit. I purchased a new Windows 10 professional installation link that is compatible with both 32 and 64 bit.
I am trying to install this new windows and change my PC to 64 bit. I checked, the processor is 64 bit (x64 based processor). Tried several times it did not work, nor did it allow me to choose between 32 and 64 during the installation process. I even tried to transfer the installation file to a USB storage device and tried to install from there.
This PC was originally sold with Windows 8.1 Professional 64 bit. When I purchased it, it came with Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.

Welcome to the forum. If you boot from the win10 iso delete all partitions it should then install you have to do a clean install to change from 32bit to 64 bit. How much ram have you got a 64 bit isnt much use unless you have more than 4 gig ram. If you had win10 installed you dont need to buy windows just down the iso from MS it will activate on its own

Changing from 32-bit to 64-bit usually requires a clean install. If trying to run the install from within 32-bit Windows you will get 32-bit, would have to boot to the DVD holding the 64-bit version to change over and it will require a clean install, will lose everything on the HDD. I've had better luck Upgrading to 64-bit without losing data from first having the older 64-bit version installed. Having 8GB RAM is great but 4GB works fine, requirement for installing 64-bit is only 2GB and 1GB for 32-bit.

As I understand it, a machine built for Windows 8 has the OEM product key embedded in the bios, in this case it will be a key for 8.1 Pro. This should be detected by the clean install and it will not only install Pro without giving you a choice, but should also skip asking for a key. As Microsoft still (for now) seem to be activating upgrades and this Win8 Pro key is validly entitled to an upgrade, then it should activate automatically too.

This Lenovo owner had one that was sold with 8 Home and had no end of trouble trying to install Pro, it kept insisting on installing Home automatically...

Since you already had Windows 10 Pro on the computer, why did you purchase a second one? And, yes, moving from 32 bit to 64 bit requires you to boot from the 64 bit USB flash drive or DVD, wipe out the 32 bit installation and do a clean install of 64 bit. But it does not require the purchase of a second license.

I did try to create a new fresh install from a usb device where i had my windows 10 pro installation files. It all went well at the start, the pc detected the usb device, and booted from there. Them it asked for the product key which i entered and that too went well. It started to work on the installation and a few second later it just came back with an error message that windows cannot be installed... Have no idea what the problem is???. Tried a couple more times with the same results.... Could be that my processor is not compatible with windows 10 pro even though it is listed as an 64 bit processor???
