If you didn't by that MB yet, it's not very suitable for FX 8350, it has low power section (VRM), 4+1 and no cooler on it. The chipset on it is also very old and barely good enough for 8350. I wouldn't settle for anything less than with at least 970 chipset.
    Hi
    Thank you for your post

The last time I had a try at building a PC, XP had just come out.

I bought the memory, cpu and mb just before xmas 2016 Im not clued up with what to buy, which motherboard would you recommend?

Would there be any benefits buying a cpu & ram,(no idea which) for this Asus to replace. My old pc which has a Intel Q6600 Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L (rev. 2.4 4gb ram or am i better just forgetting about this new mb?

    Thanks

I'm very happy with my GA-990XA-UD3 motherboard, good overclocker and has VRM for at least 140 Watts which is more than standard 125W 8350.
M5A97_R20 as a minimum or M5A99FX_PRO_R20 as better option.

It's power in Watts to worry about. FX 8350 has TDP of 125W under full load and that also means it takes more current to run it than lets say 8300 which has 95Watt TDP and needs more Amperes to run. That power is regulated and supplied to CPU by VRM (Voltage Regulating Module) section on the MB. That can slow down (Throttle) processor if it's power is over reached or if it (VRM) overheats which can with time burn MB.
TDP (Thermal Design Power, practically = energy wasted on heat).

    Hello
I have my display set 1280x1024 this would have been sufficient had the settings applied Im not sure what to do, they look more like 800 x600 MS installed its own driver, I tried a driver from Asus M5A78L-M-PLUS-USB3 , for Win7 x64 it hasnt worked. The place where i bought this mb from said they have no problems running win10 Im assuming they had a graphics card and did not use system one? is there a solution until I can buy a card?

    Thanks
