    Why no anniversary update?

My desktop computers are running Windows 10 Pro version 1511 OS Build 10586.545

I don't appear to get the anniversay update. Is there a reason for this?

(I have a year old laptop with Windows 10 Home and that did get the anniversary update.)

Windows 10 Pro 1511 has a feature to defer upgrades. The Home version does not. (It's my understanding that moving from 1511 to 1607 Anniversary Update is actually an upgrade.) To see if your 10 Pro is deferring upgrades:

Click Start button > Settings > Update & security > Advanced options. You should have a check box to defer upgrades. Make sure it's unchecked. The next time you boot your computer you should get prompted that updates are available and 1607 should be one of them. At least that's what happened on my 10 Pro machine.

EDIT: There's been a few changed to Microsoft's update/upgrade policies so I could be totally wrong on this. If I am, my apologies and I'm sure others will jump in to correct me.

Thank you for your reply. I have not had the defer upgrades option selected on either PC!

    There must be another reason..

Normally you don't get the Anniversary Update because there is something wrong with your current Windows 10 installation that is keeping it from installing and it usually takes a clean install to fix it.

You can download the ISO file here:
    Microsoft Windows 10 ISO download

Double click on the ISO file to mount it. A new drive letter (virtual DVD drive) will open. Run setup.exe in the new drive letter that opens to attempt to manually start the upgrade to the Anniversary Update. If it asks you for a product key or tells you the only option is to remove all your applications and files then you downloaded an edition of Windows 10 different the what you have installed now and you need to download the matching edition.
