Windows 10 & XP dual boot. Best way?
Hi,
I have a PC running Windows xp x32 only at the moment. I want to end up with it running Windows XP (as default) and Windows 10 x64 as a dual boot. What's the best way?

Make a standard Windows 10 installation USB flash drive. Convert it into one that boots into Kyhi's Recvoery Tools (see my quote in the middle of the OP):
Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk - Windows 10 Forums
Boot the computer from it into Kyhi's recovery tools. Use Macrium Reflect to make a backup of your current install onto an external drive. Use the AEOMI partitioning program to shrink the Windows XP partition to make room for Windows 10. Leave unallocated space for Windows 10. Run setup.exe from the Windows 10 USB flash drive you booted the computer from. Pick the unallocated space to install Windows 10 to. It should set up dual booting with Windows XP during the install.
Simp!e way is run so on free virtual box on win10 this reduces the risk of running a old vulnerable windows which could get 10 infected as well
I used the procedure at How to dual boot Windows 10 with Windows XP to set up my XP up to dual boot with Windows 10 early last year and it works correctly.
I also set my router up to prevent the XP partition accessing the internet. The procedure for that varies by router.
There is advice about checking your XP computer's compatibility with Windows 10 at Windows 7, 8.1, 10 compatibility testing for Windows XP, Vista - MSA forum WiKi article.
