Can we install Windows 10 Enterprise Edtion on Surface Pro 4 ?
Hello guys,
I'm looking to pick up a Surface Pro 4 over the holidays and I need control over whether my machine gets updates or not and when as well. I just updated my Desktop PC to the Anniversary update and it looks like the deferred upgrades option is no longer present and from some research looks like this setting is only being respected on the enterprise edition even when using the Local Group policy Editor. My Question is if i spend extra to get the enterprise edition will it work on the Surface Pro 4. I know the surface Pro 4 comes with the Windows 10 Pro edition. Is it simple to just clean wipe the device and install windows through the UEFI and using a USB. Also could I just simply install all the drivers again or would that come down automatically on the device. If anyone has any links to a good thread on the surface pro 4 and installing new windows versions i would appreciate it. Thanks

Are you aware that Enterprise is only available via a Volume License subscription? And that said subscription is normally only available to corporate customers?

As far as I know Enterprise uses the same drivers that Pro, or any other version of Windows 10 does. I've run Home, Pro, Enterprise and Education versions on my laptop with no issues. All with the Windows update supplied drivers. My laptop shipped with 8.0 Core, and there are no Windows 10 drivers available from ASUS for it.
Also, even with the Enterprise edition, to get full control over updates, I believe you need access to Windows Update for Business. That would only be available on a corporate network.

disagree only from experience > I have NOT EVER received an update. (or notification)

And then what will the OP do when the evaluation expires?

The implication is that an evaluation has no value.
Microsoft provides them for FREE.
A computer user / hobbyist / tech / professional / can choose what to do.

The evaluation version stops working when evaluation period is over. It cannot be activated, to get a licensed version installed it can only be done by clean install.
Using your words, "a computer user / hobbyist / tech / professional" has very little alternatives.
