If the image was created using Macrium. No need to do all that, just double click on the .mrimg backup image to mount it as a virtual drive and select options as shown. Open file explorer then open the virtual C drive, use drag and drop to copy what you need.
    Great, Thanks will do that.

Though still surprised as to what could have led Win-10 to cause such havoc as I mentioned in:
On my laptop, got the infinite loop Startup Repair and did not get a response to the following post that I created:

I believe the NDIS.sys driver is related to networking. I will look to see if I can find out exactly what it does unless someone else knows.

Since it is a system file it would seem to be related to something related to what it is doing. The Event Viewer should have given you a warning problems were occurring unless it was directly related to some update.

I would disconnect any network access and turn off any networking devices in the bios, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and PXE . Disconnect any external devices also and then see if anything changes. Folks in the forums are having problems with all sorts of networking situations... really hard to know what might be effecting you.

If you aren't offered Recovery Options and can't get it out of the loop you have to try an external version of recovery media. If you have tried that with no progress you may have to do something drastic to try to break the loop.

Thank you for looking into this.

I had to do something drastic - reinstall OS and all programs to fix this issue
