OK guys...thanks to all who have helped me...don't mind the hazzle of clean install...have multiple backups of files and data, etc....and program installation files.

Main concern is my system was running fine prior to Anniversary Update recently....would I encounter the same issue [s] after a clean install.....?

Probably not. Many people have done clean installs after problems developed with the numerous updates and their problems were resolved, even after updating to the most recent build.

Then would Brink's tutorial "How to Directly Clean Install Windows 10 without having to Upgrade First" (How to Directly Clean Install Windows 10 without having to Upgrade First
Published by Brink 20 Sep 2015) be the way to go...I could then install my programs and copy/or transfer the user files of same to the appropriate coresponding directories....??

    Agreed ??

If you did the free upgrade and it was activated you can do just the clean install. If asked for a key select I do not have one. I don't know if this is still necessary but when I clean install I don't sign into my MS account until after the install. The time I signed into my MS account when installing Windows 10 it used the first 5 letters of my email address as my user name.

    Trinaz,

In June, I removed Bitdefender & used its removal tool. It still left its rubbish all over the place.

I started to get weird problems logging in online, problems with installations, problems with connecting devices, ...

So I agree with the others. Run a clean install of Windows 10 and accept the hassle of reinstalling all your applications.

Success !!!To all who helped on this...my problem has been completely corrected...but I can't say 'solved'...since I don't know exactly what happened. What I did is go back to a complete Acronis tib system backup of my Windows Pro C: drive system from July 1, 2016After start up...I just left everything alone and low and behold...everything...including Anniversary Update, downloaded and installed without a hitch. Last 24 hours of testing/using also went without a hitch...Updates - Firewall issues gone - and all my accessories and options respond and are working fine...even Cortana is zipping along.
Obviously immediately saved another current Acronis image and backed that up twice to two different drives ?
Wish I could report what worked...but glad I'm up and running with (so far) a new Win 10 Pro 64bit system and Anniversary update that is functioning great !!Many thanks to all that helped....TiminAz
