The Clean Install Question. Reading Between The Lines.

MS wants as many people as possible on 10. Why make it easy to continue using 7 or 8?

I followed up to make sure my information was correct.....

Home users will lose control over Windows Update - those installs will get updates automagically.

Pro and Enterprise install can delay (as well as CBB), but not deny updates.

Feature deprecation section

and can I, with my retail version of win 8.0, upgraded to w8.1, do the same?

I believe this is widely mis-reported and misunderstood. I don't think there will be new keys. You will simply be using your existing Windows 7 or Windows 8.x key with Windows 10. If you do an upgrade of Windows 10 today from Windows 7 Home, and then use the key finder, it returns your Windows 7 key, and I believe that is exactly how it will work after RTM.

What do you mean by "Original Key"? What tool are you using to view this?

Why not? That's how it works now... Windows 7 also has a COA key, which can be used as well if the SLP key doesn't work.
