Windows 7 to Windows 10 Questions

Yesterday evening, I opened up my laptop and this notification appeared on my taskbar (circled in image). Apparently, the Windows 10 upgrade is now available for users of Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 even though the release date hasn't been announced yet. For one thing, I am glad that Microsoft is giving out Windows 10 as a free upgrade for Windows 7 through 8.1 users, yet I have some questions on upgrading though.

1.) Will my files from Windows 7 still be on Windows 10 after the upgrade?
2.) Will my drivers for my laptop (for both Windows 7 and 8/8.1) would be compatible with Windows 10? (My laptop originally came with Windows 8 so I had to install drivers from a specific site in order for my laptop's devices to work with Windows 7.)
3.) Is Windows 10 still unfinished? I have the Windows 10 Insider Preview on VMware Player, and it didn't run smoothly but that may be just the Virtual Machine.

I've had some thoughts that some of these questions may be too ridiculous to be true, but I'm kind of curious so I thought I would make this post. Let me know!

The release date has been announced, July 29th.

The update is not available yet, this is just "reserving" your update. That is, it's telling MS you want Windows Update to download the update when it's available, although it will let you choose when to install it.

1) this is an upgrade, so yes, assuming nothing goes wrong, your files will be available. You should probably do a back up though.
2) Some drivers may be compatible, some may work, but not give you the full benefits of Windows 10, and others may not be compatible. It all depends on the driver. There's not really any way to know without checking with your hardware vendors. Chances are, most of your hardware will be recognized by Windows 10 with at least basic support.
3) Yes, Windows 10 is still unfinished at this point, although its getting closer.

Okay, so would Windows 8 drivers work with Windows 10, cause I don't know if installed all the drivers for Windows 7. Alrighty then! The Insider Preview on VMware Player is updating to build 10130 so I'll wait until I've got time to physically, not virtually, install Windows 10.
