AU has now forced itself onto my wifes laptop. All hell is going to break loose if it looses internet too. Now will windows as a "service" expect her to format and do a clean install...

What did you do for a license for the second, clean install?

The digital license automatically activates if Win10 previously installed.

Try the normal upgrade to see if any issues. You may need to update drivers. Many find a clean install is best.

If desired, you can go back to an earlier build within 10 days after the AU is installed. (link above)

When the missus complained the hd was at 95% i mistook the build # i thought it was 1607, it wasnt just all 1511 updates, though afterwards all processes went up, hd,mem, cpu and mouse went screwy so lost best part of the day unable to work, not impressed. The laptops fairly reasonable and should cope but i dont have alot of faith now. We both work freelance so cant afford the time to not be confident in win10. I do all the testing on mine so when things screw up i know how to fix hers. Ok one could just save time, backup and do a clean install to start with, but really? Is that something we have to do now, seems pretty dumb to me. So i do clean install with 1607. Whats going to happen with the next, redmond2, are we expected to clean install again? And thats just windows, what about backup/restore of all other software and settings...
