all done and I have the ISO file on USB stick thanks to RUFUS.
not sure how to boot from it but I can see the setup file when I open it so I guess I can always reset the computer if same works and I can run the reset.

Your computer will have a key to press to get to the boot menu on startup (not sure what it is; don't know your system), but F2, DEL or ESC... something (you'll have to google that). Pressing that key repeatedly at boot will bring up the one-time boot menu where you can select your boot device (USB stick).

Yes I'm pretty sure I should press Esc ... so I insert the USB, turn off the computer, turn on the computer pressing repeatedly Esc until I get the one time boot screen and choose "USB"
If I'm right then we've come to the end of a long thread that solved all my problems ... maybe it will help others.
