Plenty of time for @simrick to get someone else in under the wire.

Here is one more irritation. I managed to boot to Win 10 and my HP wireless mouse has no cursor. I don't want to sort it out, I just want to shut Win 10 back down without a mouse.

Is it inadvisable to shut off the power when it has opened to a screen with a pretty picture, the time on the left and an icon on the lower right? It must be protected from power outages, no?

Press the Windows key on the keyboard, then you should be able to "arrow" to shutdown.

I take that back. Press the space bar to give you the login screen, then TAB over to shutdown icon.

When I tried that it asked me to login, so I did. Am I in deeper? The space bar does nothing now.

Shouldn't have logged in - not necessary. But, now that you have logged in, you can follow my first answer, which was to press the Windows Key on the keyboard and then arrow over to Shutdown and press Enter.

I got the menus and the tab key would not take me to the icon at the lower left that I used earlier to shut down. The Power menu offers a shut down, but with updates...not today, right?

Escape closed down the menu, I discovered that the up and down arrows seemed more direct, but none went into the corner.

If you can shutdown with updates, yes I guess go ahead - you have no choice. Don't want to mess up what you've accomplished.

EDIT: But I said to use the ARROW KEYS once you are logged in. The tab key was for when you were in the login screen.

I did it. Will the process run unattended and unprompted while I finish fixing my dinner (now cooking) and eat it, or do I need to check it regularly?
