    You can Still download
Drivers from dell websites .. instead of using service tags you can click on choose a product.
    Drivers Downloads | Dell India

The issue is that Dell Will sell same model number with 10 types of different chipsets.. be careful while installing if you dont have service tag

I installed Dell Detect from their site and let it tell me what devices are on my particular laptops, did a BIOS flash from A08 to A23 this morning before upgrading the E6420 to W10 Pro. The flash was successful and went without incident, upgraded to W10 Pro through windows update, that also went fine. After the download it probably took an hour to get installed and ready to use.

Hey thanks to everyone for the help and advice! I did go and swap the 120gb for a 240gb SSD since it was only $20 bucks difference! I have made both a usb boot drive for installing Win 10 and I even burnt a iso to a disc of the latest available preview for installing. I am about to remove old HDD and install SSD and begin installing but still can't decide if I should use the standard Win 10 x64 or the preview! Anyway I'll probably just go with the standard version then I can switch to preview later I guess! Arggghhh! Thanks again great help in these forums there is!

Finding drivers that way is what I'd normally do (not usually at Dell India, though).

Today, the Dell web site shows me drivers and downloads for the Studio XPS 8100. I guess that the condition that I complained about was temporary. Good. That means I can continue to poke my nose into Dell support issues, even though I haven't owned a Dell PC in nearly 20 years.

Seems all questions have been answered but I'm gonna chime in off the replies so far. Since you updated the BIOS check again if it has AHCI. If not stick to RAID. Don't let everyone tell you your computer is to old or its not supported or you need this. My basic early 2013 Dell works like a charm and the insides are all stock. I'm not a crazy dev or anything but I'm a heavy browser user, media viewer/downloader and it always stays "A OK" Sure this newer stuff is great but some stuff just isn't noticeable. Even with phones. Everybody wants to get the newer stuff but my 2 year old kitkat 1gb ram phone still runs great too. Really with a clean, properly organized/tweaked machine even older can run really well these days. The official new update is less than a week away if you want to wait. If you install the preview build make sure you install the patch to go with it. I think since they released a patch to the last update that will be the final public release. Otherwise they would have made a new version 14393.3 or 14393.5 is the latest one. I believe the patch has to be downloaded and installed in offline ways though. I'm not an expert on installing offline
