Windows 10 build 10061 and ESS

    Hi All,
It seems Windows 10 build 10061 and ESET Smart Security is not compatible yet. It installs to a point and then I get 'rolling back action'
I was wondering if anyone actually got ESS to work by turning off something or making a change in windows 10 to allow ESS to install on the 10061?
I didn't have any problems up to build 10049 with ESS so was just wondering. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers

Windows 10 build 10061 ans ESS

Scramjet I was having problems trying to save a backup option in Macrium Reflect and doing a search on their site I got a window with three lines of code to run in a terminal with Administrator option and it change the security to allow their site. I was able to save the new schedule but will know more in the morning when the daily backup occurs.

    Hi there

Windows defender is good enough for home users --you really don't need any 3rd party AV software on W10 any more --also while builds are still in "Preview mode" a lot of programs that rely on delving into the kernel such as 3rd party AV software are very likely not to work in a future build even if you can get them working in a current build.

Windows defender plus decent firewall control (both in and outbound) should be more than adequate for average home users.

Enterprise strength AV protection for businesses is another matter entirely though.

    Cheers

    Thanks for reply Jimbo45.
I have been using Eset for a long time and trust it to protect my system. I just found it strange the builds before 10061 installed ESS without any problems and wonder what was done to change that. With MS track record of security problems I cannot trust them unless I can watch and read for a time period how their security protection is standing up to the hits.
I would not just drop Eset because it has stopped countless hits on my systems over the years. I will wait and see how the builds perform up to the launch of Windows 10.

    cheers

I'm using Windows Defender with Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy until Win 10 final is released. When 10 goes final I'm going to use Eset Smart Security with Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy. I still use Eset Smart Security in Windows 8.1.1.

    Thanks for reply Winuser,
I am using defender also when I am logged into Windows 10 for testing and browsing around to see how things work different from Windows 8.1. I am still installing some of my most used programs, games etc on Windows 10 and testing to see how they work. Spring time is always busy for me so I don't get much time to test Some installs are glitchy but I expect that. All in testing :)

    cheers

I'm glad you brought this topic up. I think my Eset Smart Security is due for a renewal sometime this month. I'll have to reboot into Windows 8 and check. :)

I always get a reminder from them when it's close to expiry date.
