how do I start to upgrade to windows 10

Currently I'm still with Windows 7 ultimate.
How do I start to upgrade?
    where from?
Didn't see any upgrade to windows 7 related to this upgrade.
Which type of windows 10 will it be? I expect more than home premium for my ultimate version.
    thanks
I couldn't find relevant post regarding the how question. most post deal with upgrading 8.1 (which I already did on my laptop)

    Windows 10

Windows 7 Ultimate upgrades to Windows 10 Pro.

NOTE: It appears as if the Windows 10 upgrade/download pages are down at the moment (blank), just keep trying, hopefully they come back up soon. I expect Microsoft is updating something on them.

You can follow this tutorial to upgrade to Window 10. Bare in mind that the most issue we have on this forum is from people upgrading from Windows 7 so you might want to consider doing a clean install after the upgrade. Remember to backup your files!

Hmm my experience with an upgrade was very frustrating so I decided to clean install to a new drive.
Also if you do a clean install onto a small drive it can be then cloned to a larger one, and like me activate the 10 with your Ultimate key (I used my 7 Pro key for mine) when done

But it is your budget I guess but this way gives you an out (you still have the 7 on the original drive) if the upgrade goes wonky.

thank you for your quick answer
clean install is out of the question. I'm too old for that and I have too many applications. I hope they'll work after the upgrade.
my experience with upgrading from 8.1 was that everything worked except a change into local interface language.
I had to download and install the English (US) pack yo overcome this stupidity.
Next time I won't upgrade from microsoft.

upgrading my 8.1 (from my laptop) ended up with me automatically activated and all applications working.
I have image of C (the system ssd) so I hope I could go back if something horrible happens.
I'm not considering a clean install since I'm too old and I have too many applications.
