    Win10UpgradeMystery

Weirdest thing. After Microsoft's heavy handed harassment to upgrade to Win10 from Win7,I decided to give in and do the upgrade. Download of the upgrade took 26 hours! At the end, it all looked good-successful upgrade. Or so I thought. No Win10 but still Win7! Like it never even happened. Any ideas from the Collective on how this could be?

There is something wrong with your Windows 7 installation that needs to be fixed first. Also third party anti-virus/malware programs can interfere with the upgrade too.

sfc /scannow is a good place to start:

Thank you. Ran scan and there are no corrupt or missing files. Virus/malware were always turned off before beginning another Microsoft upgrade fiasco. Next step is a Mac Book and be done with it.
Got any other ideas to try?

Try the Media Creation Tool method:

It'll be easier to see what is going on tahn by using Windows Update.

I strongly recommend that you image the Win 7 installtion before upgrading the OS.

Thanks all. Contacted MS tech support, which installed win10 remotely on my "reluctant" laptop. They said it was a compatability issue preventing win10 upgrade. Bit puzzled since all programs were turned off and sytem checked for this by MS before attemting upgrade.
