Questions about product key. I think I added that on Windows 8 forum and I lost that link. I have the 5-7 digit digital code that MS sent me after I registered my Windows 8.1. Is that all I need now or should I still attempt to find the 76 alpha-numerical key the comes with every copy of Windows? Having a similar issue with Office 2013 that came with the comp. No codes, and it keeps coming up as if I never bought the darn thing. Never said anything about it being a trial, that it was part of the computer....Hard to go after Radio Shack now that they're gone. What to do?
It should be enough to enter code for W8.1 when doing clean install of W10.
I doubt that an expensive piece of SW like Office 2013 came with computer and that it was not trial.
Yeah - this is the case. For all MS being a multi billion £ corporation, they have a spectacular ability to create confusing menu options.
It is not obvious to beginners that the usb stick option can be used for same pc as well as another pc. Change word "another" to "any" and all would be clear!
One pet hate of mine is the use of the term "backup and restore (windows 7)" which should really say "Use image backup and restore option as originally used in Windows 7 but can be used on windows 10 as well (but we really do not want you to use this and want you to use File History Backup instead even though it does not do image backups)".
Ok , maybe it should only say " Image Backup and Restore" as above is a bit cumbersome - LOL.
The original wording is as clear as mud and no use to anybody, especialy for those who have not usd it in Windows 7. In fact, the wording actually accentuates the fact that the tool in Windows has not been developed for years and is far inferior to tools like Macrium Reflect Free.
Actually it did come with Office 2013 as a Radio Shack/MS promo to sell the computer.
