    Yes, I know a Win Repair can fix the OS.

    But the thing is the OP does not want W10 & prefers W7. With W10 messed up the way it is I am not sure if a repair and a subsequent roll back to W7 is possible. Anyway, hope it works out.

    hahaha :)

    Well, it's 4:14 a.m. here. Bed finally! So what happened was I fumbled around for awhile trying stuff to get things to go right. I got confused at times. ... In the end I lost my patience and did a clean install with windows 7 disk. Everything backed up in my "old" file, which was very helpful.

    Thanks Mike. I appreciate your time :)

    @Tousdae
    Here is a link to Macrium Reflect I was telling you about earlier. This is a Free program that can make a complete image backup of your Windows 7, incase you need to reinstall again. You should make regular image backups every so often for insurance. :)

    Me too Kinda lol, and I tried, but I was at it for too many hours. I also spent all my free time on Thursday trying to fix this and missed my bedtime by 4 hours.

    Yes 7!! Nothing wrong with 7. Maybe it's not as la-tee-da as 10, but it's been solid for me all these years and I don't need pretty I just downloaded that program that you linked me to. I'll check it out :)

    I haven't been harassed yet to get 10. Wonder how long that'll take. I won't break this time! haha

    Thank you! We're neighbors, btw. I'm in RI. Have a great weekend.

    Did you run chkdsk /R on the C: drive as it suggests in the dialog?

    The log is in event viewer: Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer - Read in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

    chkdsk /R reads the drive and tries to move data to new areas if the block is bad, then it takes the block out of use.

    You will have to answer Yes to run at boot.

    Restart your machine to let it run.
